Privacy Policy
The short version: we don’t track you, we don’t run ads, we don’t use cookies, and we don’t sell anything. Here are the details.
Who runs this site
Hey Vern! is a non-commercial fan tribute by Trey Cox Creative, and a member of The Old Web Project. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jim Varney estate, John Cherry, or any studio.
What we collect (and what we don’t)
The visitor counter
To show a real visitor count, we record one entry per visitor per day. We do not store your IP address: it’s combined with the date and a secret key and run through a one-way hash, so the stored value can’t be reversed to identify you.
The guestbook
If you sign the guestbook, the name, optional location, and message you type are stored and shown publicly — so only share what you’re happy for the world to read. We also store a hashed (non-identifying) value to discourage spam.
Server logs
Like nearly all websites, our host keeps standard access logs for security and reliability. We don’t use them to profile you.
What we never do
- No advertising or ad networks.
- No third-party analytics or trackers.
- No tracking cookies — in fact, no cookies at all for normal browsing.
- No selling or sharing your data. Ever.
Other details
- Removing a guestbook entry: contact us via treycoxcreative.com and we’ll take it down.
- Images: photos are used under fair use for non-commercial commentary and credited where shown.
- Links out: the webring and other links lead to independent sites with their own policies.
- Changes: any updates to this policy will live right here.
